#49ReasonstoRun

MY  HEART hurts because 49 people were senselessly slaughtered in an Orlando nightclub in the early hours of Sunday, June 12, 2016.

But I imagine that my own heartache is nothing compared to how the families and friends of the victims must be feeling, coping, trying to piece together broken memories of their loved ones’ final moments.

I can’t bring myself to read more about the tragedy that never should have happened but what I can do is show my solidarity and my unwavering support for a community I love and will always defend.

Dedicated to the 49 victims in the Orlando shooting, I will be starting a run streak called #49ReasonstoRun.

The run streak will begin today, Tuesday, June 14 and will last for 49 days honoring each victim killed in the senseless attack.

Each day I will post an image or video of myself and whoever else is able to run with me alongside an image (when available) of one of the 49 victims on social media and on this blog.

For my Philly friends interested in joining me, I will be at City Hall at 6pm every day for the next 49 days, reading aloud the name of one of the victims and running at least one mile in their honor.

It is my hope, that in some small way, this display of support will show others that love always wins. Love Always Wins.

For the 49 victims whose lights were extinguished way too early, may your memories forever be a blessing.
